Anil Jain Awarded Doctorate by D.Y. Patil Agricultural and Technical University

Kolhapur/Jalgaon, - For his continuous and significant contributions to agriculture and sustainable development, Anil Jain, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd. and Chairman of Jain Farm Fresh Foods Ltd., was today awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) by Dr. D.Y. Patil Agricultural and Technical University in a grand ceremony.

The degree was conferred at the university’s inaugural convocation ceremony in the presence of the State’s Industries Minister Uday Samant, University Chancellor Sanjay Patil, Trustee Prithviraj Patil, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. K. Prathapan, Registrar Dr. Khot, and other dignitaries. During the same ceremony, Agro One’s editor, Adinath Chavan, was also awarded a Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) for his significant contributions to journalism.

Established in 2021, Dr. D.Y. Patil Agricultural and Technical University is the country’s first recognized private agricultural university. Along with the honorary degrees, more than 663 students were also awarded degrees. Thousands of students are currently studying at this institution founded by Dr. Sanjay Patil.

Anil Jain joined the family business in 1986 with degrees in commerce and law, following in the footsteps of his father, Padma Shri Dr. Bhavarlal Jain, who had started the Company two decades earlier. While staying in India, Anil Jain studied international markets and explored how new technologies could be introduced to benefit farmers. Under his leadership, Jain Irrigation achieved rapid growth, doubling its turnover every year for the next 8 to 10 years. Over the past three decades, he has transformed Jain Irrigation into a global leader in micro-irrigation. This multinational Company emerged from the heart of India’s emerging markets and allocated substantial capital to modern agriculture, sparking a resilient revolution in Indian horticulture and farming.

By providing affordable technology and sustainable solutions, Jain believes farmers can achieve progress, prosperity, and dignity. His core philosophy is to consider farmers as entrepreneurs. He is passionate about bringing global technology and solutions to improve productivity in Indian agriculture. Through the continuous innovations initiated by Jain Irrigation, the Company has helped improve the lives of nearly 10 million farmers and their families. Each year, Jain Irrigation invites around 100,000 farmers to its Jalgaon facility, where they learn about new and innovative farming techniques. The Company not only supplies world-class equipment to farmers but also buys back some of their produce, processing it into global-standard food products, thereby creating an integrated agricultural value chain. Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd. currently has a turnover of over INR 7,000 crore and employs more than 10,000 individuals.
