Jain Irrigation conferred CBIP Award 2018 for ‘Optimum and Efficient utilization of Water’

New Delhi-headquartered institution Central Board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP) every year gives away awards on excellent performance in water conservation, power and renewable power sector from 1927. This year CBIP gave away the award to Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd., for optimum and efficient use of water. The award consists of a plaque and a citation. Senior Associate of CBIP Varun Kumar Singh accepted this award on behalf of the Company.

The award distribution function was held at Scope Convention Centre in Scope Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. Dr. Satyapal Singh, Union Minister of State for Water Resources and HRD, Mr Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of State for Water Resources, Parliamentary Affairs and Ganga Rejuvenation, Mr Girish Mahajan, Minister of Water Resources, Maharashtra and Mr Pushpendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Energy, Law and Legal Affairs were the chief guests at the function. The Secretaries of Power and Irrigation and Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Central Water Council (CWC) were also present on the occasion with officials.

Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd., has been conferred with CBIP Award 2018 for the "Optimum and Efficient Utilization of Water Resources." Jain Irrigation has always contributed to development by efficient utilization of water and other natural resources by developing innovative solutions and pioneering work done to promote the concept of drip irrigation systems and sprinklers as well as for increasing the productivity of small land holder farmers. CBIP Day is celebrated every year at New Delhi in January. CBIP confers awards on this occasion.

The eminent speakers discussed several subjects including irrigation, conservation of water and water efficiency in agriculture. Mr Girish Mahajan, Minister of Water Resources, Maharashtra spoke about the need of micro irrigation technology. The water for agriculture should be transported through closed conduits instead of transporting it through canals/open channels. Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of State (for Water Resources, Parliamentary Affairs and Ganga Rejuvenation) provided guidance on the efficient use of water and the information gathering about canal top solar energy project in Vadodara. Dr. Satyapal Singh, Union Minister of State for Water Resources and HRD emphasized that time has come to conserve available natural resources like water and provided more information about the subsidy proposal of the Uttar Pradesh Government.
