Jain to Acquire PureSense Assets To Help Farmers Deliver More Crop Per Drop

Investment joins industry innovation leaders in irrigation technology, field monitoring and data based decision-making to keep farmers in front in the information revolution. Combining resources deepens PureSense technology development leveraging Jain’s global research and development capabilities in irrigation, plant genetics, and food processing.

Fresno, California, February 16, 2015 Jain Irrigation, Inc., (“Jain”), today announced that is has acquired the assets of PureSense Environmental Inc., (“PureSense”). PureSense is an innovation leader in field monitoring and irrigation management strategies for agriculture. The acquisition will combine PureSense’s field monitoring and irrigation management technology with Jain’s global irrigation manufacturing and food production platform to provide farmer’s with more access and capabilities to increase crop yields while, at the same time, responsibly managing limited resources.

“Increasing crop yields with responsible management of limited resources is a core focus for Jain” said Aric Olson, President of Jain Irrigation, Inc. “Our natural resources are under unprecedented demand as the World’s demand for fresh and healthy food continues to increase. It is our mission to deliver the solutions needed to solve both challenges. PureSense delivered both great innovation and technological expertise using data and facts to assist farmers in making better day-to-day water, fertilizer, weather, and pest management decisions that impact the bottom-line. We are looking forward building upon the foundation that PureSense has created.”

PureSense was founded in 2006 by farmers that were looking for better ways to understand crop conditions, impacts of weather, drivers of disease, and ultimately make better decisions. The company was at the forefront of field monitoring solutions and irrigation management strategies that enabled growers to make fast field decisions within an easy-to-use software interface. PureSense has been successfully deployed in over 1,400 farms and more than 50 different varieties of crops.

“Farmers have always been asked to do more with less, and they’ve always delivered” said Kris Nightengale, Vice President of Sales for Jain Irrigation, Inc. “Our focus at Jain has been to expand our agronomic focus and to deliver to farmers as much value as possible from how they use our products as well as the products they use. Our distribution partners understand as much about how farmers operate as they do about the products they need. We anticipate that our distributors will be key in expanding on the value of the PureSense technology. At the end of the day we need to improve the farmer’s bottom-line by delivering More Crop Per Drop.”
